Ex-Google Wallet boss joins PayRange
Company raises US$2.6m

Former head of Google Wallet Osama Bedier has become a director of US mobile payments start-up PayRange.

Bedier left Google in May last year. He had joined Google in early 2011 from PayPal in controversial circumstances, with PayPal owner eBay alleging that Bedier took with him trade secrets from PayPal’s m-payment business.

Since leaving Google he has been on the board of payment companies WePay and Qiwi and is an advisor and investor in mobile wallet provider Coin Inc.

Portland, Oregon-based PayRange has reportedly just completed a US$2.6m funding round. It is due to launch its dongle product later this year that can be plugged into vending machines to enable customers to make purchases via mobile apps.

The dongle is priced at US$49, with PayRange charging 3.95% of each transaction.
