Weve boss moving to Skrill
New position will oversee all digital payment operations

David Sear, CEO of the UK telco mobile payments venture Weve, is moving to Skrill to take up the newly-created position of group chief commercial officer.

Sear will oversee all commercial operations across the Skrill digital payments group, which is comprised of Skrill, paysafecard and payolution.

Weve – the joint venture between mobile network operators, EE, Telefonica UK (O2) and Vodafone UK – announced last month that Sear would be leaving to take up a then-unspecified position.

He has previously worked in a range of senior management positions with organisations including Travelex, VocaLink and WorldPay.

Sear will join Skrill Group in August and will be based at the company’s global headquarters in London.

Sear said: "Skrill Group is very well positioned to benefit from the developing landscape of online payments. I am looking forward to working with the Skrill Group management to deliver growth and value to the organisation, and create new opportunities for businesses and individuals in the ever-evolving payments sector."

Skrill has also recently appointed David Clarke as its new group CFO.
