|MasterCard appoints APMEA merchant marketing head
MasterCard has appointed Marcus Mak as head of merchant marketing its Asia/Pacific, Middle East & Africa (APMEA) regions.
MasterCard said Mak, who will be based in Singapore, will be responsible for bringing a more dynamic, value-driven proposition to merchants. His core responsibilities will include building regional merchant marketing strategies for card acceptance and usage.
Mak has held a variety of leadership roles in payments-related companies, managing areas such as co-brand products, cross border, merchant acceptance and merchant relations. His experience spans 18 years across Asia/Pacific, Central Europe, Middle East and Africa. In his most recent posting, he was responsible for leading co-brand product management and driving cross border business. He has also had a management role in the traveller cheques business overseeing South East Asia.

Mak holds an MBA degree from California State University - Hayward and a Bachelor of Science (Marketing and Management) degree from Indiana University.
