|New MasterCard country head for Malaysia and Brunei
MasterCard has appointed Safdar Khan as country head for Malaysia and Brunei.
Khan, who succeeds Jim Cheah, said Malaysia and Brunei were both very important markets for the payment network in Southeast Asia.
MasterCard Worldwide president for South East Asia Matthew Driver said Khan had an excellent track record of partnering with customers, merchants and business partners alike to create new and better payment solutions.
Khan joined MasterCard in April 2006 as VP of global accounts for South Asia, the Middle East and Africa, based in Dubai and in 2010 took on the position of area head for the southern gulf, managing Qatar, Oman and Kuwait.
Prior to joining MasterCard, Khan served in multiple roles in the area of financial services, technology and e-business with a number of global firms including ABN Amro, Citibank and Oracle in locations spanning North America, Asia and the Middle East.
"His global experience will be valuable as he works to support the ongoing development of electronic payments in both countries which have significant potential for further growth," said Driver.
