|Ex-Barclaycard risk expert joins Equifax
Equifax has appointed ex-Barclaycard risk expert Dr John Sanderson to its executive team.
Sanderson, who has more than two decades worth of experience working in-house in a number of the UK’s leading retail banking and credit card businesses, joins Equifax in the new role of consulting, analytics and solutions director, reporting direct to Shawn Holtzclaw, MD, Equifax UK.
“John has first-hand experience of the challenges currently being faced by our retail financial services clients” explained Shawn Holtzclaw. “Having worked with a number of external suppliers over the years as an integral part of his in-house roles, John provides Equifax with a crucial insight into customer expectations, which supports our goal of providing a broader consultative approach to working with our clients. He also has a genuine hands-on understanding of the combined commercial and regulatory pressures that our clients need us to help them to tackle.”
For the last decade, Sanderson worked for Barclaycard, most recently as director, credit risk capability, where he enhanced performance across a number of business-critical areas as well as improving both customer acquisition and profitability. Before that he was customer recruitment director for the global card provider, with responsibility for spearheading the innovative use of the internet for new customer acquisition.
Prior to his roles at Barclaycard, he worked in a variety of marketing, analytics and consulting positions in well-respected consumer credit businesses including Citibank, Egg and SearsCard.
“My last 4 years have been spent in credit risk; developing the people, processes and systems capabilities to transform the volume, speed and cost of strategy changes in reaction to a rapidly changing credit risk environment,” said Sanderson. “Many of Equifax’s clients are facing the same challenges I have for the last few years. I know first-hand what they are experiencing.”
