MasterCard appoints Sri Lanka & Maldives country manager
Plans to open new office in Colombo

MasterCard has appointed R. B. Santosh Kumar as country manager, Sri Lanka and Maldives.

The payment network, which has had a presence in Sri Lanka for 25 years,  has also announced plans to launch a local representative office in Colombo early next year.

Vikas Varma, South Asia area head for MasterCard, commented: “With strong fundamentals and immense growth potential, Sri Lanka is a key market for MasterCard in the South Asian region. The appointment of an experienced team locally reaffirms our deep commitment to bringing next generation solutions and propositions to the market.”

Kumar has nearly two decades of experience in the electronic payments industry, and has been a key contributor to MasterCard South Asia over the past few years. Prior to this, he was VP and account head, overseeing the network's operations in Sri Lanka and Maldives. Before joining MasterCard, he was with Citibank and Standard Chartered Bank where he managed diverse roles in merchant and customer acquisition, authorisations and fraud and risk.
