New chairman for SIMalliance
Gemalto executive appointed
The SIMalliance has elected Hervé Pierre as the new chairman of its board to serve a one-year term.
Pierre, who has served as SIMalliance’s full-time general secretary since 2006, has recently taken up a new position as embedded software & products (E&P) senior director, strategy at Gemalto.
In this new position, he replaces Frédéric Vasnier as Gemalto’s board member representative for SIMalliance. Pierre has been elected to the position of Chair by fellow SIMalliance Board members representing Giesecke & Devrient, Morpho, Oberthur Technologies, ST Incard and VALID.
The SIMalliance is a non-profit industry association which simplifies secure element (SE) implementation to drive the creation, deployment and management of secure mobile services.
Prior to his engagement as SIMalliance general secretary, Pierre was director of strategic programmes at the Gemplus telecom business. He has also held roles at Alcatel Business Systems and Olivetti.
Commenting on his new position, Pierre said: “In the past twelve months, there have been many developments which signal strong future growth opportunities for hardware-based security solutions. The most prominent of these include the continued global growth in personal device connectivity and the rapid advance of NFC, which has brought it closer to mass market deployment than ever.” |
